Newborn Rytonian
The Rytonians were a species of space-dwelling organisms.
In 2401, Doctor Beverly Crusher aboard the USS Titan-A discovered that the Ryton Nebula was, in fact, a Rytonian "womb". The gravity well at the center of the nebula periodically released energy waves with electrical and biological properties, which culminated in a birthing event that saw the nebula dissipate and release a large swarm of newborn lifeforms. The name "Rytonian" was used on Twitter by Terry Matalas. [1]
According to Matalas, they were "not the same species, but similar" to the beings from TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint". [2]
