The Sacred Texts were the religious writings of the Bajoran religion. These writings were open to interpretation. For example, the relationship between the Prophets and the Bajorans was interpretated differently. One faction, represented by Vedek, later Kai, Winn Adami, believed that if the Bajorans honored the Prophets, they would receive the love of the Prophets. Another faction, represented by Vedek Bareil Antos, believed the Prophets had unconditional love for the Bajorans and asked for nothing in return. (DS9: "The Collaborator")
