A salad was a food dish that consisted of multiple mixed (often fresh) ingredients and sometimes salad dressing. Although usually very healthy, many people didn't like the taste of it.

In 2004, the fast food restaurant Burgerland located in Detroit, Michigan offered a "Fiesta Salad" as part of their menu. (ENT: "Carpenter Street")

Salad was often served as a side-dish for lunch or dinner in the mess hall aboard Enterprise NX-01. (ENT: "Fortunate Son")

T'Pol was known to have a variety of salad which included carrots, green beans, celery sticks, and sliced cucumbers. She used fork and knife to eat her salad as noted by Phlox in June of 2151. (ENT: "The Andorian Incident")

The galley aboard Enterprise NX-01 prepared different varieties of salad. (ENT: "The Catwalk")

On board Enterprise NX-01 salad was sometimes served as supplement to other foods, such as ravioli and bread in 2151. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

In the 2250s, a menu of Earth foods in the mess hall aboard the USS Discovery listed several food items with salads which were available through the day:

When James T. Kirk was noted to be off his weight by Leonard McCoy's physical examination, McCoy changed Kirk's diet card to dietary salad. (TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver")

The Regent of Palamar's favorite food was a salad of Matopin rock fungi tossed on a bed of tartoc. (DS9: "Business as Usual")

Neelix once told Tuvok that he also bred orchids, although Neelix's were for the purpose of being made into a salad covered with baldoxic vinegar. (VOY: "Tattoo")

While visiting an outpost of the Mikhal Travelers, B'Elanna Torres had "a small salad" and ended up complaining of nausea, after ignoring The Doctor's prior warning that Klingon physiology lacked the enzymes to digest the vegetation of that planet. (VOY: "Darkling")

After meeting the USS Equinox, Chakotay said he'd bring a salad to a potluck Neelix was holding, and Kathryn Janeway added that she'd bring the croutons. (VOY: "Equinox, Part II")

When Lewis Zimmerman had contracted a terminal disease, his assistant Haley often tried to serve him salad, but he didn't like it and told her to give it to Leonard, his holographic pet iguana. (VOY: "Life Line")
