Sarah Yu is an actress who appeared as an Enterprise crewmember in Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin. Shortly after her work on Beyond, Yu changed her artistic name into Lia Lam.

Yu was among the ten finalists at the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant in 2002 and was the winner of the title Miss Talented for her cheerleading performance. She later was a professional cheerleader for the football team BC Lions in the 2008/2009 season and also played full contact football for the BC Angels, Canada's Lingerie Football League team.

In 2001, she appeared in the Canadian comedy Come Together. She was featured in the fantasy comedy Tooth Fairy (2010, with Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, and Seth MacFarlane), the short comedy The Appointment (2010), the comedy The Interview (2014, with Thomas Cadrot), the television comedy Trailer Park Boys: Drunk, High & Unemployed (2015), and in The Romeo Section episode "The China Shop" (2015).

Further acting work includes the crime thriller The Assignment (2016, with Paul McGillion and Lauro Chartrand), the short film Another Place (2016, written, directed, and produced by Ian Nsenga), the crime drama Death Note (2017, with Shea Whigham, Paul Nakauchi, Christian Sloan, Paul McGillion, and Natalie Moon), the action comedy Game Over, Man! (2018, with Neal McDonough), and episodes of Arrow (2017), Supernatural (2018), and Red X Flags (2018).
