A shako was a type of military hat originating on Earth during the late 18th century.
The illusory musket-wielding aliens, created by Q, who attacked several members of the USS Enterprise-D personnel in 2364, wore shakos as part of their 18th century-inspired Human uniforms. (TNG: "Hide And Q")
