Shallash was an historic figure in the Tellarite culture, the second liberator of the Tellarite people.
In 2161, Captain Jonathan Archer included a reference to Shallash in a speech he prepared for the signing of the Federation Charter. Prior to delivering his speech, Archer had difficulty pronouncing the name correctly, referring to him as "Challash". Hoshi Sato corrected his pronunciation. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...")
In the early 25th century, the Federation starship USS Shallash was named in his honor. (PIC: "The Next Generation")
This character was only mentioned in dialogue.
According to the novel Losing the Peace, "The Shallash Epics (β)" were a classic work of Tellarite literature about the legendary liberator.
