Solais V was the inhabited fifth planet of the Solais system. This was the homeworld for the Solari, a humanoid species.

In 2365, after fifteen centuries of warfare, the two warring Solari factions were on the brink of mutual extinction.

That year Riva was called in to mediate peace negotiations on the planet when he was attacked and his chorus was killed at the site of the historic Battle of Zambrano, located on the northern hemisphere of the planet.

Despite the great loss, Riva remained on Solais V to continue the negotiations. (TNG: "Loud As A Whisper")

In late 2371, the SS Xhosa under Kasidy Yates hauled a shipment of duridium ore to the planet. The Xhosa was scheduled to return to Deep Space 9 about a month later. (DS9: "The Adversary")

"so-LAY-is" was the pronunciation for this planet's name from the pronunciation guides for both "Loud as a Whisper" and "The Adversary". [1], [2]
The planet model first used here for Solais V was later used for the Koinonian homeworld ("The Bonding") and Kalla III ("Firstborn").
