During the late 24th century, the Federation utilized drones in its establishments, such as Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in 2385, and the Starfleet Archive Museum in 2399. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "Remembrance")

In 2399, several drones were utilized as servers in the Nightbox on the planet Freecloud. (PIC: "Stardust City Rag")

Section 31 drone []

While on a Section 31 mission to Qo'noS, the Philippa Georgiou of the mirror universe transported into a combat situation down accompanied by a drone that immediately started firing on her targets. Its bluish-white output appeared to consist of two beams, which explosively disintegrated those it hit. (DIS: "Point of Light")

Adam Soong used these drones to generate a protective drone field around Kore Soong. (PIC: "Fly Me to the Moon") He also tried to use them to take out the Shango X-1, just in case he failed to kill Renée Picard. Cristóbal Rios gained full control of one of them and destroyed them before they reached their target. (PIC: "Farewell")

Starbase 1 drone[]

In 2259, these drones were seen flying around Starbase 1 and doing maintenance work on the USS Enterprise's hull. (SNW: "The Broken Circle")

These drones used the same model as the Section 31 drone ship, which may be a derivation of the same technology.

Starfleet target drone[]

By 2381, the phaser ranges on some Starfleet vessels, such as the USS Cerritos, featured drones that functioned as targets for phaser fire. (LD: "wej Duj")
