Space terminology was any phrase used to describe interstellar travel, as well as space-related idiomatic expressions.

In 2268, James T. Kirk described the term "warp speed" to a confused Odona as being space terminology. (TOS: "The Mark of Gideon")

A galaxy away[]

Something a galaxy away was a far distance from another, physically or thematically.

In 2372, Onaya claimed to be able to spot a creative soul (in this case, Jake Sisko) a galaxy away. (DS9: "The Muse")

Moon[]

Moon over[]

To moon over something or someone meant to spend time admiring them to distraction.

In 2266, Doctor Leonard McCoy apologized for making medical errors, suggesting his mooning over Nancy Crater was the reason. (TOS: "The Man Trap")

In 2374, while playing tongo, Miles O'Brien accused Julian Bashir of being too busy mooning over a lost romantic opportunity with Jadzia Dax to play properly. (DS9: "Change of Heart")

Promise someone the moon[]

To promise someone the moon meant to make a big promise.

In 2375, a Species 8472 re-creation of Boothby told Kathryn Janeway he couldn't promise her the moon when asked about the possibility of making peace with Humans. (VOY: "In the Flesh")

Thrusters on full[]

Thrusters on full was an invocation for another to proceed with speed and enthusiasm.

In 2259 of the alternate reality, Spock Prime whispered the phrase when observing James T. Kirk be officially given captaincy of the USS Enterprise. (Star Trek)

Stars[]

In the stars[]

Something that was "in the stars" was decided by fate rather than choice.

In 2365, when speculating on the source of Worf's troubles with William T. Riker, Miles O'Brien noted that if it was a family issue, that was hard because unlike enemies and friends, one's family was in the stars, to which Riker concurred. (TNG: "The Icarus Factor")

Nova[]

Nova was an adjective used to describe someone.

In 2265, Gary Mitchell recalled a woman from Deneb IV who was nova. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before")

Rising star[]

To be a rising star was to be increasing one's prominence and influence.

In 2372, Gul Dukat referred to his colleague Gul Marratt as one of Cardassia's rising stars. (DS9: "Return to Grace")

Seeing stars[]

Seeing stars referred to seeing points of light after a head injury.

In 2364, Geordi La Forge remarked that "If I could see, I'd be seeing stars." (TNG: "Conspiracy")

Star-crossed lovers[]

Star-crossed lovers were lovers for whom the odds were stacked against them.

Romeo and Juliet were said to be star-crossed lovers. (ENT: "Demons")
