Star Trek: Attack Wing is a multi-player table game set within the Star Trek "universe". It is produced by WizKids and premiered at retail in August 2013.

Players assume the roles of commanders who customize, upgrade and assign famous crew members to their starship fleets. Players and their fleets then compete against each other in various combat and exploration scenarios during the game.

These fleets are drawn from factions such as the Borg, the Dominion and the Federation. Each fleet has its special statistics, abilities and maneuvers displayed on separate "HeroClix Combat Dials". For its gaming mechanics, a unique version of the "FlightPath maneuver system" is used, under license from Fantasy Flight Games. [1]

Attack Wing promo

Many of the game's painted starship miniatures are very similar to those produced for the Star Trek: Tactics game but Attack Wing's Federation ships do not have names or registries painted onto their hulls, allowing them to represent more than one vessel of the same class. A number of the ships feature new paint schemes or are molded from translucent plastic. Unpainted versions of some of the miniatures were also released earlier in the Star Trek: Fleet Captains game and subsequently in the Star Trek: Frontiers game, the latter in a scaled-down form.

Attack Wing introduced a number of canon starship designs that had never been produced for the public as licensed miniatures. Some starships have names and registries taken from non-canon sources including Star Trek novels and the Star Trek Customizable Card Game.

Additional gaming scenarios, unique starships and a space station are playable on maps distributed through a series of Organized Play Program tournaments. [2]

Romulan – December 2017

Ferengi – February 2018

Mirror Universe – The Kelvin Timeline – October 2018

Independents – A Motley Fleet – October 2018

Deep Cuts starships

As part of its "Deep Cuts" series, WizKids began to retail unpainted versions of many of the game's starship miniatures. Each ship is coated in Acrylicos Vallejo primer, features deeper hull detailing for easier paint application, and includes a connector piece, two pegs, a base, and a decal sheet. The first wave premiered in February 2018.

Wave 1 – February 2018

Wave 2 – November 2018

Wave 3 – January 2019

Card packs

Card packs include cards, token sheets and dial connector pieces that incorporate updated icons and rules. For use within the game, each card pack requires the addition of a starship miniature and other elements from an earlier expansion or starter pack, as identified (by class) below.

Wave 2 – January 2018

Wave 3 – March 2018

Wave 4 – October 2018

Organized Play

Wizkids Star Trek Attack Wing OP logo.jpg

Many retailers host game tournaments where players can engage in a series of single or multiple event Organized Play competitions.

Storyline Organized Play Events

Each month, players collected participation prizes and vied for unique ships or cards. The player who had the best overall record at the conclusion of the monthly events was crowned Fleet Admiral and awarded a "Grand Prize". Each game included instructions and score sheets. Some events incorporated random ships packaged in "blind boxes".
