Star Trek: First Contact was a canceled PC game set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation era.
MicroProse had the rights to the Next Generation cast and settings and in 1997 announced plans to release a game adaptation of Star Trek: First Contact, including promotional flyers packaged with the Star Trek Generations. The game was designed with the first version of the Unreal Engine, and the story would have players fighting off the Borg as they attempted to assimilate the crew of the USS Enterprise-E.
Despite the success of the movie, Microprose stopped development due to financial difficulties. Not long after, Activision took over the franchise.
