The 2009 DVD release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture includes a series of new special features, actually done for its Blu-ray counterpart, and a digitally remastered version of the original theatrical cut, also done for the Blu-ray counterpart from which this to 480i/576i downscaled DVD version is derived.
This standalone DVD variant actually debuted in Australasia, and only became issued on the North American home market four years later, having until then been only available as part of the 2009 Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection DVD boxset.
