Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Special Longer Version was the LaserDisc release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, with an extra twelve minutes of footage added that was not in the theatrical cut, but which were included in the version as first aired by ABC Television Network on American television 20 February 1983.
Releases[]
Released in the US in 1983, and in Japan in 1985 and 1989, in the pan and scan format. The US release featured only analog stereo audio while the later 1989 Japanese re-release featured Dolby Digital Surround sound. A VHS version and a VHD version were also released in the pan and scan format.
