(written from a Production point of view)
Star Trek: Vulcan's Soul is a trilogy of Pocket TOS novels, written by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz, and published by Pocket Books between 2004 and 2007. They continue the story of Ambassador Spock's efforts of Unification.
- What became the Vulcan's Soul trilogy initially started out as one novel, akin to its predecessors, Vulcan's Forge and Vulcan's Heart. As the project grew larger, it expanded into two, and then three, books. It was further delayed by the development of Star Trek Nemesis, which introduced additional elements into the Romulan mythos – namely, the Remans. This change almost derailed the trilogy entirely – Shwartz noting that "[we] really wondered for awhile there if there would be any form of Vulcan's Soul." – but between the authors and Pocket editor John Ordover, it was finally approved and writing begun.
