Star Trek - Next Generation Movie Box, Special Collectors Edition is a region 2, Japan only, follow-up DVD box of the likewise Japanese only 2003 Star Trek - Next Generation Movie Box release. Released on the occasion of Star Trek: The Next Generation's 20th anniversary, the box-set collected this time the 2004-2005 Special Editions of:
It should be noted that a Special Edition collection of the Next Generation films box-set variant saw no mimicry in Europe and America until the 2009 release of the remastered Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection. This set however, did not include the special features as originally included on the individual Special Edition DVDs, but rather only the new ones, produced on the occasion of the 2009 remastering. Its concurrently released Blu-ray counterpart on the other hand, did feature these so-called "legacy special features" alongside the new ones. No specific TNG Special Edition DVD set version would ever see a release outside Japan, only the later Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc versions.
