Star Trek – The Original Crew Movie Collection (Special Edition) was a Region 1 DVD collection containing the Special or Director's Editions of the six Star Trek films that principally focused on the cast of Star Trek: The Original Series.
Released on the same day as Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Special Edition), the collection was a follow-up to the the 2001 and 2002 editions, and contained the following releases:
- Star Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director's Edition)
- Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (The Director's Edition)
- Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (Special Edition)
- Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (Special Edition)
- Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Special Edition)
- Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Special Edition)
Unlike the preceding Star Trek box sets, this set was retailed in Japan, where two versions of a unique "Limited Edition" reached market.
Limited to releases of 5,000 copies each, the first edition of the set was released on 22 December 2005, followed by a second 40th Anniversary Encore Edition that debuted on 28 July 2006.
Both Japan-exclusive Region 2 sets included a die-cast metal starship miniature of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (refit), as it appeared in The Motion Picture and its first two sequels. Incidentally, early solicitations for the first version of the box set displayed a rendering of the ship as it was seen in The Original Series.
The miniature could be mounted on the printed display base, which also doubled as a storage unit for the DVDs.
