Star Trek Generations is the VHS release of Star Trek Generations.

US release[]

Star Trek Generations was released to VHS for rental outlets in the summer of 1995. However, a retail release did not follow until 16 February 1996. This first retail release featured a lenticular holographic cover using the film's theatrical poster. Later reissues omitted the lenticular cover. The general VHS release featured a 30th anniversary trailer with Kate Mulgrew, along with a trailer for the Patrick Stewart-narrated From Here to Infinity.

UK release[]

Star Trek Generations has been released on VHS in the UK several times, both individually and as part of boxed sets, since 1995. The film was released by CIC Video up until 1998, and by Paramount Home Entertainment thereafter.

The film was first made available for sale as part of the Star Trek - 30th Anniversary Movies Box Set along with a 26-page information booklet in November 1995, with the standalone release following a month later. In addition to the standard retail release, a Special Collectors' Edition – featuring a "Making Of" documentary, theatrical trailer, a new sixteen-page booklet, and collector postcards – was released in January 1996.

All UK CIC Video releases were leading for the releases in the rest of Europe, especially the Benelux countries where the releases were virtually identical to the UK ones with the exception of the (back) cover text language, subtitles and catalog numbers.

Star Trek Generations – "Welcome Aboard: Your Passport to Adventure..."[]

Star Trek Generations – "Welcome Aboard: Your Passport to Adventure..." is the title with which the sixteen-page booklet was endowed by United International Pictures when it debuted in the 1996 "Special Collectors' Edition" release as an UK exclusive VHS bonus only, and it was not even an actual booklet at all, but rather a double-side printed 16×24 inch promotional poster that ingeniously transformed into the "booklet" when folded eight times. In effect, it actually started out as such in late 1994 as a purely promotional tool for not only the film itself, but also for the below-mentioned feature-length television episodes, before they were included the following year as bonus in the VHS releases as well. One side contained information on Captain James T. Kirk, the Next Generation crew and their ship, encircling the Generations film poster in the middle, whereas the other side featured a promo for the VHS feature-length episodes of the Star Trek: The Next Generation series. That "booklet" was included in all 1996–1997 UK Generations VHS releases and/or sets it was a part of, but had been phased out before the Star Trek DVD era started to take hold in the UK three years later.

At least one variant was known; the one included in the 1997 The Movies VHS box set did not feature the episode promo on the reverse side but rather the film credits for Generations. Additionally, the "back cover" of the "booklet" which normally featured a UK discount voucher (redeemable until 31 March 1995 at CIC Video UK) for the feature length episode tapes was replaced by a stylized representation of the Veridian star explosion. The VHS box variant is almost certainly the replacement of the feature-length television episodes variant, after the discount offer had expired, despite left-over original variant "booklet" stock still finding its way into later VHS releases.
