Real world article
(written from a production point of view)
Star Trek Generations was the Video 8 release of Star Trek Generations. A relatively short-lived video tape format, it was the last known Star Trek production to be released anywhere in the world in this format, with the US/Canadian release as the only known variant to date.
Background information[]
Of the, in total six titles from the Star Trek films series released, Generations appeared to have been the most uncommon one and is currently an absolute rarity in the second-hand collector's market; the Video 8 home video format was by the time of its release well on its way out – for pre-recorded Hollywood productions that is, as the format was in wide use as a home-movie recording medium worldwide.
