The Starbase 1-type was a starbase design in use by Starfleet in the 2230s, and still in use in the 2250s. It featured a wide saucer-base with starship docking ports around the perimeter, sensor equipment extending below, and a large semi-triangular column extending vertically above. As early as the 2230s, some crew assigned to a starbase of this type could bring families and children with them on assignment. (ST: "The Girl Who Made the Stars")
