Starfleet Scouts
Starfleet Scouts was an organization aimed at children approximately eight to ten years of age.
It gave elementary school children with an interest in Starfleet an early experience of what they could expect it to be like to attend Starfleet Academy, so that one day, they might choose that career.
The scouts wore uniforms similar to those worn by members of Starfleet.
The organization operated a school on an Earth-like planet that was constantly getting bombarded by various kinds of asteroids. As a result, JR, Roo, and Sprocket were constantly having to stop them with their asteroid deflector. (Star Trek: Scouts)
At least one such asteroid – a gorgonite asteroid – was deliberately diverted to their school by an outlaw Caitian named Shadowtrix. (SCO: "Asteroid Blasters, Part 10")
