Admiral Dougherty in Flag Officer Uniform from Star Trek: Insurrection. Close-up rendition of the Flag Officer Belt Buckle.

When the grey-yoked variant of the Starfleet uniform was adopted for use in 2373, the look between Commissioned and Flag Officers had been reunified after an almost 25-year difference. Flag Officers (those of Commodore/Rear Admiral Lower Half and higher) wore the same uniform, but with a few modifications: gold trim around the collar and front seams, wider collar bands also with added gold trim and the standard duplicated rank insignia, and most noticably the return of the uniform belt with a hybridized UFP/Starfleet Command insignia in gold and blue. As seen in the close-up on the right, it featured the laurel leaves and blue oval of the standard UFP seal, but in place of the stylized "starmap" graphic was the Stafleet Command "delta shield with comet trail" insignia. Although Flag Officers were slow to convert to this style of uniform, the onset of the Dominion War revealed to the hierarchy that a unified look would add to morale. Thus, by 2374, all flag officers started wearing the new variant.
