Lieutenant Commander Steve Stevens was a male Human Starfleet officer who lived during the late 24th century. He served in the command division aboard the USS Cerritos under Captain Carol Freeman during the early 2380s. (LD: "Second Contact")

Career[]

2380[]

In 2380, Stevens joined the away team to Galardon to make second contact with the Galardonians.

After they returned to the Cerritos, while still standing on the transporter pad, he asked if Commander Jack Ransom shouldn't have a recent bug bite he was still rubbing looked at, but Ransom thought nothing of it, and asked if Stevens wanted to grab a drink later that night. Stevens heartily agreed, stating, "you know it. Nothing like a cold beer after a smooth second contact," before the two bumped chests and walked their separate ways.

During the rage virus outbreak later that night, Stevens was in sickbay, undergoing surgery. Doctor T'Ana noted that the anesthetic was useless before she removed his heart from his chest and handed it to Ensign D'Vana Tendi, instructing her to pump it and that no one was allowed to pass out. Stevens, who was in complete disbelief, cried "That's my heart! It hurts when you pump it! -Oh God! Oh..." Afterwards, when asked if she was still happy aboard the Cerritos, she acknowledged with excitement, "Are you kidding? I got to hold a heart!", while recalling her experience with Stevens. (LD: "Second Contact")

He attended the management training session in the officers' lounge. (LD: "Moist Vessel")

He also attended the party to celebrate Fletcher's promotion to lieutenant. (LD: "Terminal Provocations")

2381[]

Stevens reads to Ransom

In 2381, he was on the away team for the second contact mission with the Apergosian homeworld when Commander Ransom was afflicted with strange energy. Despite showing reverence to the newly empowered Ransom, the latter completely ignored Stevens. Stevens later cried when Ransom was repeatedly kicked in the groin by Ensign Mariner and had a boulder dropped on him by Dr. T'Ana. Afterwards, he visited Ransom in the sick bay and read to him from the novel Nightingale Woman. (LD: "Strange Energies")

Later that year, he was among the crew members who had missed their annual physical exam. Ensign D'Vana Tendi caught up to him at the bar attempting to pick up a female command ensign, where she performed the necessary scan, which showed that he had very weak bones and needed to drink more milk. Stevens denied this, only to immediately fracture his hip and require medical attention. (LD: "Mugato, Gumato")

Stevens, The Tholian Web

Stevens' simulation

Later that year, he participated in the training drills presented by Shari yn Yem, where he participated in and failed the simulation, The Tholian Web. (LD: "I, Excretus")

He was in the corridor lineup to congratulate Captain Freeman on her promotion when she was, in actuality, being arrested by Starfleet Security. (LD: "First First Contact")

Later that year, he lead the away team on Jengus IV when he was attacked by an illusion of Kukulkan, resulting in him temporarily being turned to stone and losing both his arms. He would be restored, and his arms would be reattached, though he initially had trouble with them in casts. (LD: "Mining The Mind's Mines")

Later that same year, he would critically injured himself twice on the same day after leaning on the warp core, resulting in severe dilithium burns. (LD: "Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus")

Later, he was in the bar aboard the Cerritos celebrating the defeat of the rogue Texas-class ships. (LD: "The Stars At Night")

He was later sitting at the bar with a sciences ensign when T'Illups and Shabarnes burst in and stuned the two, plus Honus, and took the three in as subjects for T'Illups "Tuvix army". Thereafter he was combined with Matt to become Swhale Swhalens. (LD: "Twovix")

Relationships[]

Jack Ransom[]

He was very fond of Commander Jack Ransom, who referred to him as his "little buddy". (LD: "Strange Energies")

He later stated in front of Mariner that he and Ransom were best friends, and they shared a sacred bond. After Mariner left, Ransom told Stevens that he had to "stop saying that we have a sacred bond," but Stevens reassured him that "I feel it, sir, and I know you do, too." (LD: "Mining The Mind's Mines")

Two holograms of Stevens appeared in various holoprograms aboard the USS Cerritos.

In 2380, a hologram of Stevens, originally created by Brad Boimler for Boimler Seven was reused in Crisis Point: The Rise of Vindicta. Stevens was on the bridge when the ship arrived at Idlocana VI and encountered Vindicta's Bird-of-Prey. (LD: "Crisis Point")

In 2381, a hologram of Stevens appeared in the program Naked Time for the simulator holopod training drill by Shari yn Yem. There, he was riding Ransom bareback while holding a horga'hn. (LD: "I, Excretus")
