A Tellarite beacon was a device which, by emitting a false warp signature, could be used by Tellarites as a decoy. In the mid-22nd century, devices of this type could be deployed by a Tellarite shuttle.
One such beacon was deployed, in 2153, by a Tellarite shuttle captained by Tellarite bounty hunter Skalaar. Its warp signature was tracked by Enterprise NX-01 but the device was ultimately destroyed by that starship. (ENT: "Bounty")
In the final draft script of "Bounty", this design of beacon was described as a "tiny" and "small, blinking beacon".
