A survey probe was a type of probe used by Starfleet to conduct surveys in the 24th century.
In 2367, the USS Enterprise-D surveyed a M-class planet in the Mar Oscura Nebula with three of these probes. The probes revealed an ordinary planet with no lifeforms. (TNG: "In Theory")
