Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 6 was released on VHS in the UK in a two-episode-per-tape format by CIC Video in 1993-1994. The release was deleted on 1 January 1998.
Releases[]
- Dates in italics are approximations based on release frequency, where no exact date is available. UK products are normally released on a Monday.
From 1988 onward (starting with the Next Generation rentals), the UK CIC Video releases had served as the template for all Star Trek tape releases in the rest of Europe, Australasia (it being a PAL territory as well), and Japan (despite being a NTSC territory), with local branches of CIC Video responsible for either subtitling or dubbing in the language of the target market, as well as optionally adapting sleeve cover art to local tastes. The later Netherlands/Flanders video case sleeve cover art for example, was virtually indistinguishable from their UK counterparts, save for the ratings and text imprint language of the episode summaries/disclaimers on the back cover art, whereas some European countries, such as the Nordics, sometimes sported redesigned sleeve cover art.
Rental release[]
Along with the 1993-94 retail issues, a four-episode-per-tape release took place somewhere in mid-1990s, albeit exclusive to Blockbuster Video (UK) only. This release did not take account of season divisions, and so the volume containing the last episodes of a season would sometimes also include the first episodes of the next. These rental reissues differed in this respect from the retail releases by containing four episodes instead of two as what they called "Rental Exclusives". Obviously not intended for retail sale, some copies did turn up in the second hand market after all, among others through the UK Blockbuster Video rental chain itself[1], after the VHS/DVD rental circuit ceased to exist a couple of years later.

At this point, CIC had dropped the "New Stars. New Stories. New Worlds to Explore." tagline from the cover sleeves of its TNG VHS releases.

- ↑ Also includes "The Inner Light" and "Time's Arrow" from TNG Season 5.
- ↑ In the case of sets, the certificate is over the set as a whole (unless stated otherwise).
- ↑ In feature-length form with "Time's Arrow"
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 In feature-length form.
