Talax, or Talaxia, was an inhabited planet and the homeworld of the Talaxian species. The planet was located in the Talaxian system in the Delta Quadrant. From its surface, the lights of the colonized moon Rinax were visible. (VOY: "Jetrel", "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy", "Dragon's Teeth")

Talax was seized by the Haakonian Order in the year 2356, after the Talaxian unconditional surrender concluded the Talaxian-Haakonian War. (VOY: "Jetrel") As of 2378, the planet was still believed to be under Haakonian control. They did not treat the Talaxians well, leading some to leave. (VOY: "Homestead")

One of the most pleasant places on the planet was the Paxau Resort, located on Paxau, where the rich and privileged went to relax. (VOY: "Warlord") Notable landforms, remembered fondly by Neelix and Dexa, included the Axiana Lakes and the Godo Mountain Range. (VOY: "Homestead")

In 3189, the location of Talax was denoted on a holographic star chart of the galaxy at Federation Headquarters. (DIS: "Die Trying")

Due to the premise of Star Trek: Voyager, the Talaxian homeworld could not be regularly featured as a setting on the series. (Star Trek: Voyager - A Vision of the Future, p. 164)

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 78), by 2378, the official name of the government on Talax (Talax IV) was the Autonomous Province of Talax. The government was seated in the capital city of Paxau. The dominant species were the humanoid Talaxians. An estimated 14.2 billion Talaxians lived on the planet. The Talaxians had been warp-capable since antiquity.

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 2, p. 367, Talax was a M-class planet.
