I'm wondering if maybe it wouldn't be more prudent to put this info on the Far future page.
Zora says she's been waiting for the crew to return "almost a thousand years". The abandonment would presumably have to happen somewhere after 2257 (barring further multiverse shenanigans), the current year in the show. 2257+1000 is indeed 3257, the middle of the 33rd century. But there's significant leeway. If the ship has been idle for less then 943 years, then the episode might be set in the 32rd century, and I think 943 comfortably falls within the range that can be described as almost a thousand. On the other hand, if Discovery is abandoned only after serving for another 43 years, then Calypso might be set in the 34th century. A ship serving for that amount of time is neither unreasonable nor unprecedented, and Discovery is supposed to be brand new (per context is for kings). All this of course also assumes that there is no second time jump accident with the spore drive.
My point is, while the 33rd century time frame is the most logical guess, it's not all that certain. -- Capricorn (talk) 16:59, November 11, 2018 (UTC)
- The promo for the episode clearly stated "1,000 years after Discovery". That is certainly more concise than the original research type language/ speculation presented here, plus literally anyone who has seen the promo or is familiar with the presentation is first going to look for a date 1,000 years after the 23rd century. --Alan (talk) 00:46, November 12, 2018 (UTC)
Beats me how info from a promo is to be taken at face value while going by actual information from the episode count as original research. I can see the "good enough" option, but I'm only trying to point out that per what's said in the episode, it's a guess at best.
