Misspelled name[]
While researching Klingon worlds, a search on MA could not find an article named "Beta Thoridor", not even a redirect, though (surprisingly) MB did. Doing an "all results" search, however, showed its use on MA, leading to the "Beta Thoridar" article. Both spellings were used in the article, though predominantly with the "a" variant; no relevant commentary regarding alternate spellings in canon is in the article. The external link to MB was spelled "Beta Thoridor". Reviewing each hard-copy source cited in the article, I could find no spelling with the "a"; all were "o". Granted, the Alpha Beta Quadrant Overview star chart attached to this article might have it spelled "Beta Thoridar", but I cannot even identify its location on the image, much less make out its spelling.
I intend to "be bold" and presume this was a simple and early error that was built upon; I've corrected that error throughout the article and intend to move it (with the automatic re-direct) to "Beta Thoridor". Coopering (talk) 17:54, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- I just checked the scripts on Chrissie's Transcripts Site and Star Trek Minutiae and they both spell it Thoridar. I also replayed the episode from Paramount+ and the CC spell it Thoridar, the spoken dialogue is less clear, though. High resolution image formerly available at Star Trek: Picard season one FUI Design shows a label "Beta Thoridor", but it is not canon. Star Trek: Star Charts also shows "Beta Thoridor" on map. My own interpretation is that "Beta Thoridar" is a planet within the "Beta Thoridor" system: it would make sense for Gowron to say «The Duras family is gathering a large force near…» a planet and not near a star system. I don't think we can have a clear canon explanation on the alternative spelling, so in my opinion we should revert back to "Thoridar" – because of scripts and CC – but also add an explanation about the alternative form in the article.
