In the 23rd century, some Starfleet ships carried a court reporter for the purpose of recording statements, presumably for later use at an official inquiry or court martial. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

Did they specifically say that the reporter was taking testimony for use at a court martial or an inquiry? If they didn't, then I don't know if we should presume that. By the way, is there a Court reporter article?--31dot 00:41, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

No, there is no court reporter article. The quote from the film if I remember correctly is: "Now hear this. Court reporter to sickbay. Statements to be taken from Yeomen Burke and Samno." Even given that it was a ruse to smoke out Valeris, why would statements be taken, by a court reporter no less, if not for use at a later official inquiry? Starfleetjedi 00:51, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
