I removed the following text:
- Human scientist Victor Hess identified cosmic rays in 1912. Hess was born in 1883 in the Earth country of Austria, but was forced to flee his homeland by the Nazi threat and emigrated to the United States in 1938. Hess was awarded a Nobel Prize for his work in 1936. In his acceptance speech, Hess pointed out that scientists of many different countries had tried to answer questions about cosmic rays with little success. He called for cooperation among scientists in order to further the research:
- In order to make further progress, particularly in the field of cosmic rays, it will be necessary to apply all our resources and apparatus simultaneously and side-by-side; an effort which has not yet been made, or at least, only to a limited extent.
Unless there's a citation for this, I think it goes beyond the simple description required for this article and strays into Wikipedia territory. -- Renegade54 20:16, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
