Remastered image[]

What the heck happened to the remastered image of the Orion scout??? Not canon enough for you? --Babaganoosh 19:31, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

It was not a screencap, and in fact was taken from StarTrek.com, making it a copyright violation. If someone wants to take an actual screencap from what aired, we can use it, as that would both be a canon image, and be fair use. --OuroborosCobra talk 19:56, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Uh, it wasn't from StarTrek.com, it was from YouTube.--Babaganoosh 22:48, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

That doesn't help things. Where did the Youtube video get it from? --OuroborosCobra talk 02:07, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Scout Ship vs Science Ship[]

I do not think these two ships should be grouped together. The Orion ship from Journey to Babel was described as a scout ship, while the one from SNW is a science ship. They of course look similar, but that is just because they are ships made by the same race in the same time period. If you examine the designs closely they are actually very different. The scout ship has a full ring around the "drive balls", while the D'Var type science ship has a broken ring with four segments. The science ship also has 12 additional smaller balls and a large vertical tail that the scout ship lacks. The ring on the scout ship is connected to the "spine" by a single crescent-shaped piece which curves out in front of the drive balls, while on the science ship the ring segments are each supported by a straight pylon. The supports holding the weapons(?) above and below the bridge on the science ship are much thicker than on the scout ship. I know modern Trek has been retconning the designs of TOS ships, but this is a step beyond that, these two ships are clearly different and there is no indication that I can find that they are supposed to be the same.
