Noord-Holland[]

Is it really neccesary to mention Noord Holland? I think just Amsterdam wil do fine (The Netherlands aren't THAT big...) Mobylon 21:10, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

The more specific, the better, IMO. --From Andoria with Love 21:11, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
While I am not saying I wish to see Noord-Holland removed (I'm fine either way), I would like to add that "Amsterdam" is just as specific as "Amsterdam, Noord-Holland", even if it less elaborate.

DS9 casting...[]

I was looking at her bio over on imdb, which indicates she was cast on DS9 to reprise her role from Perfect Mate and Dax was written in when she turned down the opportunity. However, I noticed it indicates here that Dax was already written and she was cast as Dax and then turned it down. Does anyone know which of these is more accurate???--Ds093 01:57, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

According to the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, Janssen turned down the role of Dax. Dax's make-up was inspired by Janssen's character from "The Perfect Mate," but the character was already written as Dax. Janssen turned down the role for the same reasons Michelle Forbes turned down the opportunity to return as Ro Laren in the series: she wanted to do films. --From Andoria with Love 03:42, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Pronunciation[]

The article states that her last name is pronounced "Yan-Sin." I do not know about this actress specifically, but I am Dutch and the last name "Janssen" is actually quite common over here, but as far as I know it's always pronounced "Yan-Son" (perhaps Yan's-Son is even more accurate, but the difference is barely hearable as the syllables are pronounced even more quickly after another than a hyphen would suggest)

On a completely useless but interesting note, I would like to add that this last name is actually a bastardization of the translation of "Jan's son" (J's in Dutch are pronounced as Y's in English) though the current day translation of "Jan's son" would sound more like "Yan's Sown"

I would like to propose a change to "Yan-Son", but I do not know about this actor in particular and have no source at all, so if someone could have a look at this, that would be helpful. --*Jasper* 02:26, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Birth date[]

Other sources have said her birth year was 1964, without a specific day or month known. That seems like something to clear up.--Mcc1789 22:44, September 21, 2018 (UTC)
