the "revolting" drink is from Forcas III[]
Reworded to avoid having the simplest available grammar correction incorrectly over-corrected on subsequent edits, and to avoid potential style disputes between followers of differing quotation-punctuation conventions. As a bonus, there's now context for Data's remark.
The line had read 'Forcas III is also from where a drink Data described as "revolting" came.' Had I simply edited it to read 'Forcas III is also where a drink Data described as "revolting" came from' it would likely have been reverted at some point due to the popular misconception that ending a sentence with a proposition is ungrammatical in English. 69.183.237.21 13:01, December 12, 2009 (UTC)
- It's also just possible that the original author did not write English properly. Ever considered that? -- sulfur 13:47, December 12, 2009 (UTC)
- Um. Wow. Are you aware of how obnoxious you're coming across? The original author of the sentence 'Forcas III is also from where a drink Data described as "revolting" came.' didn't write English properly, but that's beside the point -- this is a wiki, and so anyone can edit it, not just the original author, the users who edited the article after them but before me, and me. That's why I took the time to explain why I made the edit the way I did here. I really don't understand why users like you and Morder are so hostile to new contributors... is it because I haven't registered yet, and you're afraid I'm going to start vandalising articles with curse words at any moment, or something? I don't know and, at this point, I don't care. Feel free to continue acting out your issues on some other unsuspecting geek who just wants to lend a hand to what seems like a worthwhile project; I won't be "bothering" you any more.--69.183.237.21 01:17, December 13, 2009 (UTC)
- I know i would feel less hostile right now if we could just rewrite the sentence to make perfect clear sense, without wasting time and storage space discussing it. Having several paragraphs and more than a kilobyte of discussion about fixing one awkward sentence is ridiculous, and I apologize if you feel slighted about this disapproving viewpoint of what's going on on this talk page. -- Captain MKB 01:39, December 13, 2009 (UTC)
