Dead language?

Wasn't there a TNG episode where Data told Picard that French was a dead language? Tough Little Ship 12:55, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

"Code of Honor", but not "dead", more specifically referred to as an "obscure language". --Alan 12:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

English annexation of France

I like to imagine that England annexed France at some point (perhaps during WW3/Eugenics War?), which would explain Picard's accent, as well as Data's implication that French is a dead language. The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

I doubt that most of the French like to imagine that, though. :P -- Renegade54 21:07, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Generations ref

At least according to the dvd features of "Star Trek: Generations", Jean-Luc Picard had some mails of his youth written in French. Furthermore, I think it would be interesting to note that: while those long letters were written in perfect French by the movie crew, many other simpler instances of French are filled with spelling mistakes.
