Same actor?[]
I've not seen this episode in a little while, but I was watching an episode of "In the Heat of the Night" and came across a fellow credited as the same person (and IMDb claims they're the same person), so I grabbed a poor screenshot of him. This episode was filmed about 20 years after the Star Trek one, but it might help with identification... Maybe.
I looked through the images of the episode, and the fellow in the second image here (third from the back) could be him... Thoughts? -- sulfur (talk) 22:00, March 8, 2016 (UTC)
- I wondered the same, I think the IMDB body of work looks suspicious as far as if it's the same actor. Also, "John Goldfarb, Please Come Home!", which he was supposedly in around the same time he was in Star Trek is available on YouTube. I wasted about an hour watching it 2x, but didn't see any familiar faces. --Alan del Beccio (talk) 18:59, December 4, 2016 (UTC)

There is more unknown than known about this guy and I find the IMDB reference to be more of a catchall for that name than an actual useful reference. –Gvsualan (talk) 16:23, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Production report and scene numbers[]
According to this production report, Allen filmed his part on the second day of production, Tuesday 17 January 1967 and appeared in scenes between Scene #51 and #69. If anyone has a copy of the script (which I don't) they might be able to identify him based on the scene numbers. --Ltarex (talk) 23:04, January 9, 2021 (CET)
- Scene 51 begins the third act and does include this guard who is rather visible with Giotto (Scene 57-60), and then Scene 62 has all these guys (with 2 unidentified actors), also, Scott, appears in Scene 66 , Scene 67 begins with Vanderberg, Appel, and these three engineers (two of which are unidentified). Scene 69 ends roughly here .
- So if this guy is indeed in the episode, he is one of five men pictured above. –Gvsualan (talk) 13:17, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

- Then again, according to The Trek Encyclopedia (take it for what it's worth), p. 60, he was "[t]he engineer in charge of repairs at the reactor plant in the Pergium mines of Janus VI," which brings us back to the guy from the previous scene that Scotty was working with. –Gvsualan (talk) 14:29, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- ...and the Concordance (p. 299) does agree he's an "Enterprise engineer #1" v. a miner/engineer. --Gvsualan (talk) 12:41, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- You're right, I was just settling on what the Concordance was going by.
- Nevertheless, I did a bit more research and spent some time going through local yearbooks and found a George E Allen below who shares a number of facial characteristics with the only other actor who had considerable screentime in those scenes here they are side by side:
