Name?[]
As she was credited with two names, why doesn't this article actually incorporate them both? -- sulfur (talk) 21:06, June 22, 2013 (UTC)
- Hannity, is it heard in the movie or given in the credits like Brackett ? Maybe her name is Hannity Brackett ? C-IMZADI-4 (talk) 15:39, October 16, 2013 (UTC)
It is credited in Star Trek as "Hannity" and in Star Trek Into Darkness as "Ensign Brackett", just as the BG note states. -- sulfur (talk) 15:59, October 16, 2013 (UTC)
- so, 2 characters or the same etablished ? "Hannity Brackett" maybe ? C-IMZADI-4 (talk) 15:10, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
- I doubt Pike would address Hannity by her first name. --Alientraveller (talk) 20:32, October 22, 2013 (UTC)
Redirect[]
Since there is a TNG fleet admiral already at Brackett, let's move that to "Brackett (Fleet Admiral)" and include a redirect to this page at "Brackett (Ensign)" or "Brackett (alternate reality)". --LauraCC (talk) 16:26, May 25, 2016 (UTC)
- No, let's not move the admiral over. Let's wait to see if she's in Beyond, and if so, how she's credited in that one before doing anything hasty and dumb. -- sulfur (talk) 16:30, May 25, 2016 (UTC)
So is the consensus that it's a credit error? We can still do a redirect for the ensign (leaving the admiral where she is) so those looking at that name can find the right person, and that leaves the page open as an option to later be edited to reflect the real name of the character eventually if necessary. --LauraCC (talk) 16:34, May 25, 2016 (UTC)
- With a disambig on the Admiral's page pointing over, it will catch people going to "Brackett" and expecting the ensign. -- sulfur (talk) 16:43, May 25, 2016 (UTC)
All right. That's a compromise I can live with. --LauraCC (talk) 16:47, May 25, 2016 (UTC)
So far, she would not appear to have been in Beyond. How do we know that Brackett isn't Hannity's sister/cousin/doppelganger? The character may have been named before the actress was cast. --LauraCC (talk) 21:17, December 30, 2016 (UTC)
Split[]
If she was clearly given two different names then she shouldn't be one person. Many actors have played similar but different characters in the past. --Alan (talk) 18:16, June 26, 2020 (UTC)
- Well, credits are "canon", but less so than the films themselves, which would seem to make this a single character that was credited weirdly for the second film since we tend to default to "same actor = same character" unless we "have" to assume otherwise. I could swear we have actors with different credits we still list as the same character, though none come to mind at the moment. I'm also less inclined to believe the 4th edition of the STE for anything that wasn't in the 3rd edition, since it was clearly a rush job. - Archduk3 21:42, June 26, 2020 (UTC)
For comparison, James Komack/Westervliet is our best best fit, tit for tat, both credit wise, and both with only the first being ID'd by name on screen but the other appearance not. The second best example that comes to mind is the similar scenario that sort of happened in reverse order for Strickler/Hayes, but without the name in the credits, but from the equally valid script source. --Alan (talk) 01:53, June 27, 2020 (UTC)
