They don't run on gasoline; instead, a new alternative was discovered in 2061.

Removed, as it contradicts the sentence which followed stating that hovercars were first used in 2036. I also don't think Archer even got that far in explaining what happened to petroleum.--31dot 20:46, July 30, 2010 (UTC)
