Trans-erasure?[]
This quote was just changed from:
- "allowed him to realize [his] worth and represent his community by just existing and being [him]self."
to:
- "allowed him to 'realize my worth' and represent his community by 'just existing and being myself.'"
with a comment about "Correcting the trans-erasure of the quote."
I'm curious to know how this was correcting trans-erasure.
The quote was re-written into the third person to make it more legible to a standard reader of the site, much like most every other quote has been here on MA. Can you please explain the phrasing of your edit summary? -- Sulfur (talk) 22:11, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
In regards to the edit war[]
Regarding the edit war, I don't see a problem with BenjaminKayEight's changes. Alexander googled "female-to-male" transgender in his childhood, which means he was female originally. I don't see why we need to deny it. People are born either male or female and some people choose to identify as a different gender when they're older. The idea that people are assigned a gender at birth is nothing but far-leftist propaganda. Gilgamesh de Uruk (talk) 14:15, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- And your last sentence made it clear that there's no point in further discussing this as you're not interested in using inclusive and more correct language by just acknowledging that they were assigned female at birth rather than actually having been a woman. Lady Lostris /

How is saying he used to be female any less inclusive? No one is denying that he's transgender and no one's trying to exclude him from anything. And no, saying he was assigned female at birth is not correct because there is no one who does the assigning. People look at a baby's genitals and instantly see if they're a boy or a girl. The fact that some people change their gender identity more than once in their lives or identify as gender fluid shows that gender dysphoria is more complicated than just the "born in the wrong body" trope. - Cause they're trans, ergo, they never were a female. They were assigned female at birth, but they never were a female, which is what the edit of BenjaminKayEight made it out to be. Saying that there's no one doing the assigning is just wrong as you yourself already say that that's literally what the doctor is doing based on an evaluation by someone's genitals. Noting the biological sex is completely irrelevant. Ben's edit didn't add any additional value to the article that wasn't already there and even made some of the info that was there less accurate, so I'm not sure what more there is to discuss here. - Incorrect, female is sex not gender. They are a man(now non binary) but they are also still female because that's a biological statement. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by BenjaminKayEight1 (talk • contribs).
- Your statement would only hold value if listing the biological sex had any value, which it doesn't, hence why the previous version was better than the suggested changes. Lady Lostris /
