Official COD?[]

Was an official cause of Jack Crusher's death ever established?

I've heard that he died on a mission when he was forced to sever the warp nacelles of the Stargazer to save the ship from destruction by a 'Nensi Phenomenon' but I also heard that is death is similar to Wesley's psych test in "Coming of Age" where Wesley 'saved' one man and was forced to leave the other to 'die' and that Captain Picard was forced to make a similar decision to save one of his officers, leaving Jack to die.

Wesley's Psych Test depicted the events of how Jack died on an away mission, the other idea you got of his death must've been from a novel. Check out "Coming of Age", it mentions that the Psych Test was related to Jack's death. Enzo Aquarius 15:10, 10 Apr 2005 (EDT)

The scenario with the nacelles is derived from Michael Jan Friedman's novel Reunion -- i personally didn't find it convincing, and its certainly not relevant to canon. -- Captain Mike K. Bartel^talk 16:06, 10 Apr 2005 (EDT)

There is no evidence indicating that Wesley's Psych test was a depiction of the events of his fathers death, this is a bit of a wild claim. The test was just that, a test, it was of wes' reactions to a critical and unexpected situation. It shared the scenario of choose one man's life over another, which supposedly was the same choice faced by Picard, but that's where the direct similarities end. -Foravalon 09:32, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

- "True-Q" establishes Wesley was five when his father died; he was born in 2349 so it's reasonable to assume Jack was killed in 2354.
... that Walker Keel introduced them
- As referenced in the article, this was stated by Keel himself in "Conspiracy."
... that he died during an away mission
- "The Bonding."
... that his name is Jack R. Crusher
