Mix-up with Jeanine[]
This page needs major changes. The reference book Star Trek Beyond - The Makeup Artistry of Joel Harlow makes it clear that the alien pictured here and written about in the in-universe text is actually the female alien, whom it calls "J-9", specifying that that designation is "short for" the name Jeanine. --Defiant (talk) 22:05, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
The complication seems to have come about from a conversation I had with Dae Cadman, who told me, "Was just having dinner with the lens tech that was on Beyond and brought up the question of Jin. I showed her the pic (from Prosthetics magazine) that had been labeled J-Nine and even she says no... that's Jin. That backs up what myself and Bronwyne thought. The female scavenger was blue toned. This is the male that 3 of us think is Jin. It has more blue on the ears [than the other alien] but there is more blue tone through the centre of top of head. The sculpts are different. The centre of forehead is different. The overall tone appears more blue on that screenshot but it's so hard to tell from what I would see in the shop to how it's filmed and processed. It was really hard for us in the shop to tell. 54 different species were developed. I will stand by my original call based on what the main painter recalls and more importantly what the lens tech (on set) stated. Considering most of the days had them on 6 hrs sleep!" However, the aforementioned reference book clearly shows that the female alien, who is definitely Jeanine (and Cadman's assertion doesn't dispute that) is the alien with the blue-colored ears. Hence, this alien is Jeanine. --Defiant (talk) 22:34, October 13, 2017 (UTC)
