What is the basis for describing Lisbon as "was" the capital, and Portugal as a "former" state on Earth? Tfleming 17:37, October 17, 2011 (UTC)

See MA:POV; virtually all articles are written in the past tense.--31dot 17:46, October 17, 2011 (UTC)

I think the use of "former" in that sentence is still incorrect though. (that is, unless there is canon proof) -- Capricorn 15:44, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

You are possibly correct- though I was referring more to the "was" portion. --31dot 01:08, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

It occured to me that Portugal isn't even mentioned in canon trek, so I sidestepped the issue by simplifying the sentence :D -- Capricorn 07:48, October 22, 2011 (UTC)
