The way the article is currently written is correct: Geordi was placed in command of the USS Enterprise-D, and Logan was in charge of engineering at the time. Geordi was not placed in charge of engineering until the next season. --From Andoria with Love 05:02, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Multiple Chief Engineers theory[]

I understand the section about the Enterprise having multiple chief engineers, referencing Riker's line, but since both MacDougal and Argyle were Lieutenant Commanders, while Logan was only a Lieutenant, wouldn't it make more sense for one of them to come up and try and assume command from Geordi instead of Logan, since they outrank him as well? No, none of that makes sense. The first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation is very confusing how they never explained or even bothered to explain why there were so many Chief Engineers, when they left The Enterprise, and whether or not they were supposed to be permanent or just temporary assignment. I'd assume that MacDougal and Argyle left the Enterprise before that episode but I am just guessing. In Correct (talk) 18:44, January 13, 2016 (UTC)

I am wrong. MacDougal and Argyle (and Lynch) are in charge of Engineering during other shifts. We never see them or hear from them because the senior staff is The Day Watch, which they are not a part of. (And this was quickly added to the logs on the display of a remastered episode. Is He Even A Chief Engineer?[]

Both MacDougal and Argyle were referred to as Chief Engineer by the senior staff. I don't recall any verification from the senior staff that he is indeed the Chief Engineer and not somebody who is trying to take over Engineering and later the entire ship! The dialog from this episode identifies him as chief engineer. He said over com "This is Chief Engineer Logan. Are we breaking orbit?". Tom (talk) 18:58, January 13, 2016 (UTC)

Removed sentences[]

Logan had the strange habit of announcing his position when answering or making a com call. La Forge demonstrated annoyance at this.

Not odd at all but observations from the episode. But I agree that a removal is better as the information does not fit right into the article. Tom (talk) 16:24, August 14, 2016 (UTC)
