- Loomis' name was a homage to Joseph Hoover's character in the movie Hell Is for Heroes, who was also a captain (albeit an army captain, i.e. the equivalent of a Starfleet lieutenant).

- I can't seem to find any confirmation, but this "Hell Is for Heroes" homage fact is repeated on several other pages (Parker (Commander), Nadia Larkin, Reese (AR-558), Kellin, "The Siege of AR-558") which implies a slight amount of legitimacy to the comment.--Tim Thomason 22:09, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

- The writers picked names for the new characters from among the cast and characters' names in the motion picture Hell Is for Heroes, one of their favorite war films.
