29 hours Edit

It is likely that the planet has a 29-hour rotation time around the sun.

I removed that on the basis that it is speculation. I don't recall the planet's rotation around the sun ever being mentioned. --From Andoria with Love 08:05, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

I am putting it back, modified. While objects do not rotate around a sun (they revolve around a sun), there is a line which indicates a 29 hour day, or 29 hour planetary rotation (one day is a rotation, one year is a revolution):
BEREL: "Cordon off this wing... I want security on his door twenty-nine hours a day... and I want this kept quiet.."
The only equivalent phrase we use is "24 hours a day," so a background note suggesting the planet has a 29 hour day is not out of line, methinks. --OuroborosCobra talk 09:53, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Thought I'd point out that the line doesn't necessarily indicate that the length of Malcor's day is to equivalent to 29 earth hours. It only indicates that the Malcorians have divided their day into 29 units called "hours. These could be longer or shorter than an earth hour. However, I still think that the reference to a 29-hour day is worth noting somewhere. Starstuff (talk) 03:41, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, since 29 is a prime number, not divisible by 2, 3 or 4, I suggest that the doctor used 29 the way we'd say "work 25 hours a day", so it's possible a day on Malcor is subdivided into 28 units. 28 can be subdivided by 2 and 4. However, if Malcorians view their day in thirds (sleep, work, morning and evening activities), it would intuitively make more sense to use 24 or 36, so that it can be divided by 2, 3 and 4. 29 - or 28 - gives a nice alien touch, but it isn't very practical. 24 is elegantly perfect for a species that has a circadian rhythm similar to ours - 7-9 hours of sleep, making approximately one third of a total cycle.
