This may or maynot be canon, but I am certainly interested in where this information coming from, or at least seeing some legitimate sources and references here... --Gvsualan 18:52, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I don't know about it being mentioned in any episodes as exactly that, although I do know that it's in the NextGen Tech Manual. I would personally take the generic matter/antimatter reaction with the dilithium crystal in Federation warp cores as fairly well established, though. --umrguy42 19:52, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

In which case the TNG Tech Manual should at least be listed. --Gvsualan 20:54, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No arguments on that. --umrguy42 21:03, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I only wish there was some episode references, even just *blurbs* that could be added to this - hence why the keeping of the pna. --Gvsualan 21:12, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC) EDIT; actually, now that I think of it, does "Contagion" mention any of this in the part where Geordi explains the destruction of the USS Yamato? Gotta check on that... --Gvsualan 21:15, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Gvsualan, did you ever happen to check on the "Contagion" ref? I didn't pay close attention when the episode aired last week and I don't have the DVDs handy at the moment. Perhaps this page, the newly-created M/ARA, and warp core should all be collected under the warp core article, as they pretty much refer to the same thing... -- SmokeDetector47 // talk 03:30, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Warp Core vs. M/ARA[]

What exactly is the difference between a warp core and a M/ARA?. It seems to me they are one and the same. So should MA have an article for each?– Watching... listening... 14:10, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Relation between M/ARA and warp-core[]

The term M/ARA stands for Matter/Antimatter Reaction Assembly. I personally believe this to mean that it includes the supporting systems related to the warp-core. One could call the M/ARA the pulmonary system of the ship, meaning it consists of not only the ship's 'heart' (which would be the warp-core) but also it's 'lungs'.– 193.43.89.206 12:19, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
