Deleted note about connection between Mira, Mira Antliae and Omicron Ceti[]
Mira Antliae cannot be the star Mira, because Mira is already established in Trek under its alternate name Omicron Ceti. -- EtaPiscium 08:27, 14 Oct 2004 (CEST)
- I don't agree with your latest edits to this article and Mira Antliae system. The fact that this star was referenced as "Mira Antlia(e)" helps to avoid some of the problems we would have to deal with otherwise, but we can't completely ignore the fact that it was also called "Mira" several times (and probably was intended to be the original Mira). We should at least acknowledge this connection by leaving notes (such as the ones you deleted) on all three pages (Mira Antliae, Mira, Omicron Ceti). -- Cid Highwind 12:07, 14 Oct 2004 (CEST)
- It does seem that the writers intended the star in "Conspiracy" to be the real Mira, but this is impossible since Omicron Ceti already exists. That's why I deleted the speculation that Mira Antliae could be Mira, because it can't regardless of the writers' intentions. - How does one person in the 23rd century calling that star Omicron Ceti make it impossible for another person in the 24th century to call it Mira? Both Mira and Omicron Ceti are obviously valid names for the same star right now, why should that change? Rename?[]
Looking at both transcripts, and the two lcars screenshots of the ep on this site; "Mira Antliae" seems wrong. Dialogue calls it the "Mira system", and lcars just "Mira Antlia" (without e, which assuming a Antlia location is in error but nonetheless canon, and also without system after it (which is not without precedent)). So that's two names given in canon, and this being neither of them.
Personally I think the best option of the two would be "Mira Antlia", with the assumption that "Mira system" is shorthand. -- Capricorn (talk) 18:12, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
