Other possible names:

The NX-04 following tradition would be Atlantis, the list in the speculation should be rearanged if one is mentioning names respectivly ordered as the numbers were written-Terran Officer (and yes, i have temporaoly forgton the codes to write this properly, I wanted to write this right now why it was in my mind.)

Speculation on names[]

There is some speculation on the names of NX-03 and 04, basing them on the names of the space shuttles. People seem to think NX-04 should be Atlantis or Endeavour. Atlantis I understand, sort of, because it was the 4th shuttle to fly in space. Problem is, you have to count from the Enterprise, the atmosphere prototype of the space shuttle, not from the Columbia, the first to fly in space. In that system, Atlantis would be NX-05, the existence of which was never mentioned in canon. As for Endeavour, there is no reason to think that. It was the 5th shuttle to fly in space, and the 6th built. I have changed the article to say that NX-04 might have been named Discovery, as that was the 4th shuttle built, starting from Enterprise. --OuroborosCobra 11:59, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

As you should have. Good catch. ;) --From Andoria with Love 22:43, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

NX Project[]

Official logo for this institution clearly represents the name as "NX Project" in ENT: "First Flight". Shouldn't we change the name of the article to match? CzechOut | 01:41, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I was just wondering this, the very article on the page, mentions the formal name is NX Project. Even though it seems to be referred to as "program" in the series, it would seem better to rename it to "project" --Terran Officer 06:55, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Tweaking background information to eliminate speculation[]

I removed portions of these background notes because they seemed to me overly speculative in some of their phrasing, but I have left the parts that are factual and seem to cover the thoughts well enough by themselves:

"No mention is ever made of an 'NX-Gamma' nor why that Greek letter was skipped in the NX series."

"It is somewhat unclear just how long the NX Project remained a unique subdivision of Earth Starfleet. It is possible that the project proper ended after Enterprise was launched. This is perhaps suggested by the disappearance of the NX Project logo after 2151. It is notable the Enterprise crew wore only an Enterprise patch, whereas NX test pilots wore both the project logo and what appeared to be the emblem of their particular vessel on their flight suits. Following that logic, Enterprise crew members should have been wearing an NX Project logo, had the project still been regarded as an active subdivision of Starfleet." --Side Rat (talk) 05:58, August 26, 2016 (UTC)
