Sorry about the history, but shouldn't this rather be a redirect to enlisted officer? Noncom as well as non-commissioned officer point to that page -- Kobi - (Talk) 21:22, 16 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I think this article may be inaccurate. First, it lists paygrades (E-1, E-2, etc.), which probably aren't Star Trek canon. It also ignores at least one enlisted rank, that of the Crewman First Class (Simon Tarses). Also, if it is a page about NCOs it should deal with the ranks petty officer and above, as enlisted personnel aren't immediately Non-commissioned officers.--Tim Thomason 04:29, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- No, all enlisted personnel are noncoms because enlisted officers don't have commissions.--69.19.14.22 19:07, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- But "NCO" stands for non-commissioned officer -- in modern military service, all NCOs are enlisted, but all enlisted personnel aren't non-commissioned officers -- they are non-commissioned personnel -- the term NCO referring to them as being officers refers to senior enlisted personnel that have been given a position of responsibility (an "office", the origin of the term "officer").
- Tim already stated this, but are there any other military buffs who know more specific uses of the term? -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 20:28, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I want to include this in the article to explain it -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 15:47, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Removed[]
- Includes ranks of E3 (Petty Officer Third Class) to E9 (Master Chief Petty Officer).
These ranks are already included in the last provided, and I don't recall the whole "E" rank system being used on Trek. Thus, removed. --From Andoria with Love 13:30, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
