Distinguishing between members of the species?Edit

Was it ever established that other species have a hard time distinguishing between Heirarchy Species members? Did anyone on the show actually say that? --The Rev 16:49, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Doctor WhoEdit

This species looks nearly identical to an alien that showed up on Doctor Who once during Tom Baker's run. Sadly I don't remember the name. I'll find it as soon as I can. - 25 September 2006

I guess you mean the Sontarans? --Jörg 20:29, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Sontarans, indeed. Now.. these first showed up in an episode called VOY: "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy", which was all about... the nameless Doctor. Even more unlikely.. the second-in-command Hierarchy alien was called Devro (Davros). -- Harry talk 22:36, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I noticed that, too. It's SO obvious. This episode was full of sci-fi refs. The best diplomat I know is a fully activated phaser bank. 23:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Removed Edit

It has never been explicitly stated on-screen whether the Hierarchy is a single person, or some form of committee, though the use of the collective term 'they' to refer to the Hierarchy suggests the latter. The Hierarchy's apparent obsession with efficiency, coupled with the computer interface used to communicate with them, suggests that the Hierarchy might even be nothing more than an advanced computer system.

Removed the above as speculation.--31dot 10:46, October 24, 2009 (UTC)

Species name Edit

Regarding the note from the companion I understand that being an "Overlooker" is a position in the Hierarchy. Neither term is referring to the species real name. Tom (talk) 16:28, March 11, 2015 (UTC)

That was my impression... which is why I was asking for clarification. The quotes you've included don't really help answer the question one way or the other unfortunately. -- sulfur (talk) 17:27, March 11, 2015 (UTC)

I know but that is all information I can find right now about this species. Tom (talk) 17:39, March 11, 2015 (UTC)

I'd thus be tempted to revert the page move, and note WHY the species is named X and the scripts stated Y. The bit that does make me a bit confused is the part about the ship though. -- sulfur (talk) 17:41, March 11, 2015 (UTC)
Please don't revert the page move. If the scripts say they are called Overlookers, then that's what Memory Alpha should call them, even if that isn't their in-universe name. There are plenty of other species whose name comes from the script, including Grazerites, Srivani and Na'kuhl. Star Trek: The Magazine (August 2001) also calls them Overlookers.
