I think it's safe to assume Regula is a star system and not just a lone planetoid. The station is called Regula 1, not just Regula. Even more obvious is the sun that the Genesis planet is seen orbiting. It has to the same star that Regula 1 orbits because both Enterprise and Reliant were able to travel from Regula 1 to the Mutara nebula boundary within minutes under impulse power. --GreatBear 06:19, 9 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Yes it could just as easily be the Mutara system. I'm assuming Regula is the star because the station and presumably the planetoid are named Regula 1 and planets are usually named after their sun with an ordinal added to signify their orbit. I have removed the paragraph about Regulus. There is no reason to assume any correlation between Regula and the star Regulus, nor are the two words alternate forms of eachother in Latin (regulus means prince, while regula means ruler/plank/pattern). Stage Two[]
Although Stage Three proved to be a failure (depending on how one views the novels and more stable protomatter later on), what about Stage Two? Surely the entire Project Genesis was declared to be a "failure" only for public and interstellar consumption. Torlek 03:18, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- We don't actually know how long Stage Two existed. It is possible that like the Genesis Planet, it eventually self destructed due to the use of protomatter. If that is the case, it would be just as much a failure as Stage Three. -- OuroborosCobra talk 03:38, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Orbit[]
Do we know the regula orbited a star at all? Perhaps it just orbited the nebula. Was the Genesis planet's sun created out of the nebula too? Also, is it safe to assume that regula was destroyed when the genesis device detonated? Federation 12:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
